Edelstein at Cradles to Crayons

At the onset of 2018, we announced that in honor of our 50th anniversary, we would be participating in five larger scale community service events to commemorate one per decade that we have been in businesses.  Yesterday, we went to Cradles to Crayons for our second of these five events.  As community involvement became an increasing part of our firm’s culture in the early 2000’s, Cradles to Crayons was a nonprofit that we consistently worked with and volunteered at, so it was only natural that we work with them in our milestone year.  Their mission is to provide, “children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. We supply these items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities that have with communities that need.”

Our group of over 20 volunteers participated in a project in which we sorted and organized children’s clothing.  Each volunteer was given a “recipe card” which indicated how many shirts, pants, socks, dresses, etc. should be included in each kid pack, to be given to various ages and size groups from infant up to preteen. In total, we made 26 kid packs. Other team members of our group spent their time switching over the clothing inventory from the winter and spring seasons to summer. We’re proud to share that our efforts will impact 355 children.

We had a fun afternoon working with the team at Cradles to Crayons and enjoyed having the opportunity to continue learning about the amazing work they do for children in our communities.  Be sure to check out our Facebook page to see more pictures from the event.

Special thank you to all of our team members that participated and to our partner co-chairs, Marc Bello and Jonathan Gorski.  Continue to stay in touch with us as we still have three commemorative community serving events coming up this year.
