Partner Promotion Spotlight: Kate Rooney

On January 1, 2019, we announced that six of our principals were promoted to partner, including Kate Rooney of our tax department.  Since 2011, Kate has been an integral part of our firm – not just serving clients but providing guidance by way of committee involvement and mentorship internally at Edelstein. Kate works with high net worth individuals, their families and trusted advisors to achieve financial security by leveraging the right tax planning strategies.  As a Big 4 Firm alumni, Kate honed in on her passion for working on individual tax returns and truly getting to know the clients and their unique needs.

Of her promotion Kate said, “I could not be prouder to work with such a strong group of individuals at Edelstein.  I am truly excited for the opportunities that lie ahead.”

Congratulations, Kate!

A Result To Share:

Kate’s strength is to look across large groups of similar returns, identify inefficiencies, streamline processes and deliver thorough tax compliance and planning strategies. While reviewing a prior year’s tax return for a new client, Kate identified a missed deduction.  As a result, the return was amended and resulted in a refund of approximately $31,000 for the client.

A Fun Fact:

Kate is well versed with public speaking and has been since Middle School.   To this day, Kate relies on her public speaking skills learned at a young age.  This past Fall, Kate presented on tax law changes under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to Financial Service Professionals networking group.  Previously she presented at several annual Edelstein Tax Timely Topic Breakfast Panels.  She has been published in Financial Advisor and quoted by CNBC. Kate is actively involved with her alma mater, Northeastern University. She sits on their Undergraduate Accounting Advisory Board, teaches Advanced Individual Tax Planning in the Master of Science in Taxation program, and actively recruits fellow alums.
