Edelstein Announces New Partners

Edelstein & Company LLP announced today that six principals have been promoted to partner, effective January 1, 2019. We’re proud to share that Bob Babine, Michael Barbera, Emily Matthews, Jason Pierce, Kate Rooney and Kyle Shukie are now partners of our firm.  As we continue to grow at Edelstein, we’re thrilled to have the addition of these hard-working, creative individuals to the partner group.  Managing Partner Scott Kaplowitch said, “I appreciate their dedication to Edelstein and want to extend congratulations on behalf of our entire firm. I look forward to their continued leadership in 2019 and beyond.”

Bob Babine

Bob joined Edelstein in 2008 and has been an integral part of our firm’s growth and development since the onset of his career with us.  If there is one word that describes Bob, it’s passionate; he’s passionate about client service, about research, about training staff, and about enhancing the firm’s brand in the marketplace.  He has developed into the go-to advisor for accounting and operations for a number of craft breweries and developed our firm’s niche in this space.  He takes an interest in firm matters and is a huge asset now and as we look into the future.

Michael Barbera

Mike has been with Edelstein since 2008, and has almost 20 years of public accounting experience.  He handles various complex multi-state corporate and individual tax matters and is a technology champion in the tax department. Mike has done a great job over the past few years taking the lead on some large client engagements, and helping to grow those relationships.  With an entrepreneurial spirit, Mike brings creativity, expertise and eagerness to our office and to the relationships that he fosters on behalf of the firm.

Emily Matthews

Emily started with the firm in 2012, and has built strong client relationships in the pass-through and individual tax areas.  Emily is very active with business development efforts, as well as taking the lead in mentoring and other department and firm events.  Emily takes the time to not only understand her clients’ needs, but to see beyond the basics to provide a well-rounded approach to any engagement. Her ability to connect with and cultivate relationships with both clients and referral sources is a key asset as our firm grows.

Jason Pierce

 Jason joined Edelstein in 2010 and blazes a trail of confidence within the business valuation profession.  He is a nationally recognized speaker with a passion for writing and speaking.  With his diversified skillset and leadership qualities, Jason has contributed to a more than 100% growth in the business valuation team revenue.  He engages in business development activities and continues to be an Edelstein brand ambassador.

Kate Rooney

Kate holds her undergraduate and Masters in Tax from Northeastern University and has been with Edelstein since 2011.  Her nearly 20 years of experience servicing high-net worth individuals has led her to be the primary contact for one of our largest client groups.  She has dedicated her career to helping those families with tax compliance, tax planning and cash flow management.  She focuses on the importance of client interactions by employing a holistic approach with her clients various trust advisors to deliver not only a detailed analysis, but the opportunity to enhance relationships along the way. Kate has been active with the firm’s Women’s Initiative Committee as well as mentoring various levels.  She teaches a tax class in the Master’s program at Northeastern in addition to presenting tax strategies to various groups throughout the year.

Kyle Shukie

  Kyle started his public accounting career with Edelstein and has been a valuable member of the firm since 2007.  Kyle has developed into a trusted advisor for his clients, which primarily include pass-through entities and high-net worth individuals.  Kyle brings a very proactive and well-thought out approach to all his client relationships.  In order to make sound decisions, clients appreciate a clear, patient approach which is what Kyle brings to the table each and every day.
