Edelstein’s Ignite What Matters Panel

Today, Edelstein’s Women’s Initiative Committee hosted the Ignite What Matters panel in which the entire firm was invited to attend and hear three speakers share their personal career journeys around the themes of leadership, mentorship, and inspiration. Our event took place at the Boston Center for Adult Education.

Our speakers included Susan O’Connell, Amy Pitter and David Fortier.  Susan is a Partner at Wellington Management, Amy is the President and CEO of the Massachusetts Society of CPAs (MSPCA), and David Fortier is a Founding Member of One World Strong Foundation.

The over 30 attendees had the unique opportunity to hear about the lessons learned, experiences, and real-world examples from the speakers perspective.  They addressed: the pathway to leadership roles, the importance of strong mentors and mentorship opportunities, and how inspiration can ignite passion.

Susan discussed the advisors she has had along her career path and the importance of giving and receiving feedback. Amy presented about the “winding road” that her career has brought her on and the many experiences that led her to her current role of leading the MSCPA.  David shared his very personal story of how the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings had a lasting impact on his life and his journey to help others heal during traumatic experiences while inspiring them to never give up and continue moving forward.

After the speaking portion of the event, we had a great time working together to create some delicious dishes for lunch.  We collaborated in the kitchen to make both an Italian inspired menu and the fixings for a Summer BBQ.

We appreciate the insights presented by our speakers and the knowledge they shared with us.
